The Citizens’ Advisory Committee is the public participation forum for all transportation products and plans. The CAC is represented by various community groups and individuals from with the Metropolitan Transportation Planning area. Membership can be drawn from any group or organization deemed applicable by its committee members. Members of the CAC may represent different groups or organizations but are generally representatives of the general public. Vacancies in any of the representative positions can be filled by interested citizens or by recommendations from the committee. They advise the Technical Committee and Policy Board in the planning process.
The CAC does not have the authority to adopt transportation products or plans. Their role is to provide citizen input into the review of products and plans, and analyze potential impacts as it relates to the citizens of the Metropolitan Transportation Planning area. Upon the CAC’s review of products and plans, the committee shall make a recommendation to the Technical Coordinating Committee as to whether the product or plan should be either recommended or denied adoption or acceptance.
